Textile Inkjet printing is opening up new markets mainly in customization, personalization and sampling-proofing segments. With this printing technology, designers, interior decorators, boutiques and high class clothing shops can now produce their own small range of requirements to suit their clients' needs, at short notice. BASF Germany made a comparison of the current economics of inkjet printing with traditional printing and their findings are as follows: 1. Inkjet printing has low investment cost whereas for the traditional screen printing, investment cost of the machinery is high with low running cost. 2. While for the traditional printing, cost for printing one sq. mtr goes down with longer run lengths, for inkjet printing, this cost remains nearly the same for both short and long runs.
