THE UK Legal Sector Affinity Group (LSAG) has jointly published an advisory note, highlighting key anti-money laundering (AML) risks and challenges for the legal profession associated with the Covid-19 crisis. The Group says that despite challenges currently facing legal practices and practitioners including the difficulties associated with undertaking customer due diligence (CDD particularly where clients cannot be met face-toface, firms must still comply with their statutory requirements at all times. However, LSAG says the regulations provide flexibility in the application of their requirements and there exist options for practices seeking to comply while also observing requirements such as social distancing.
