The competition watchdog has told eBay and Facebook to do more to stop people selling fake reviews through their sites. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) said it found proof that there's a "thriving marketplace" of people offering to positively review items they've never tested. It identified over 100 eBay listings and 26 Facebook groups selling fake reviews during research between November 2018 and June 2019. Some of the Facebook groups were run by businesses recruiting people to write and post fake reviews on shopping sites such as Amazon.
