At first glance, the Windows 10 Start menu is all things to all people: click and tap, text and tile in one gorgeous melting pot. In truth, it's all things to all people who use a keyboard and mouse. All the important, grown-up stuff (PC settings, File Explorer and so on) is on the Windows 7-style left side of the menu, which is too fiddly to navigate by touch. All the dispensable fluff (Video app, something called People) is on the touch-friendly Windows 8-style side, which Microsoft seems to regard as a kiddies' play area. If you've just shelled out for a tablet, you'll feel justifiably miffed.
