Data fusion aims to combine heterogeneous information to obtain a single solution from alternative solutions, with the aspiration of getting a result that is better than all inputs. For example, in information retrieval, a meta search engine may combine the rankings of several search engines in order to increase user satisfaction. In fuzzy multi-criteria decision making, a set of alternatives are ranked by paying attention to a set of criteria ratings.
