Walking the floor with the other 129,000 attendees at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this year, two things struck me as odd. One was the fact that Microsoft Corp. had one of the largest booths, and the other was that people were flocking to its booth, wanting to learn more about the company's products. I guess convergence is really happening. One convergence product that will revolutionize the custom-installation industry is the Media Center PC. Made by a number of manufacturers, it uses the Microsoft Windows XP operating system. It combines the power of personal computing with the convenience of a digital video recorder, music jukebox, audio and video streamer, and digital photo station. It's like having four components in one box. This product has been out for some months now, but Microsoft introduced a couple of companions to it at this year's show.
