This review describes the synthesis and properties of borates that carry CF_3 (or more generally, perfluoroalkyl R_f) groups bonded to boron. Sme novel amine-boranes R(CF_3)_2B.NHMe_2 with R-CF_3, C_2F_5, C_4F_9, C_6F_5, F_2C=CF, CF_3-FC=CF that are precur- Sor molecules for the borates are reported; cleavage of their BN bond by Net_3×3HF Furnishes fluoroborates [R(CF_3)_2BF]~-.
