The name of Mstislav V. Keldysh, academician and triple Hero of Socialist Labor, is well-known both in our country and abroad. He is famous as an outstanding national scientist, mathematician, and mechanical engineer, who obtained original solutions to the most difficult problems and determined by his works a number of research lines in modern mathematics and mechanics. He is known as the Chief Theoretician of cosmonautics, and one of the creators and leaders of the national space exploration program. He is also known as president of the Academy of Sciences, who headed these headquarters of national science for many years and did a lot to develop and strengthen the basis for science in our country, and to increase the role and prestige of this science.
