Dr Anne Mullen, director of nutri-tion at the Dairy Council, opened the Saturated Fat Dairy and Cardiometabolic Health conference at London,s St Pancras Renaissance Hotel by noting that with the spotlight put on by the press in recent years, conflict in the literature, and articles claiming butter is back, the question of dairy and whether it is good for one,s health is now ‘as clear as mud.’ A legion of confused consum-ers travel in the wake of the media and internet, and so the latest scientific evi-dence on saturated fat, dairy, heart disease and type 2 diabetes was presented, to help try and clarify the situation to healthcare professionals.
