New Zealand dairy co-operative Fonterra has announced plans to build a new dairy factory near Darfield in mid Canterbury. The new milk processing plant, which is about 45 kilometres west of Christchurch, is expected to be fully operational by September 2012.rnGary Romano, Fonterra managing director trade and operations, says the development would cater for strong milk growth in the area in the future. If the plans are given the go ahead, it would be Fonterra's eighth processing factory in the South Island and its 27th in New Zealand.
