Rising milk costs and increased debt helped curdle profits at US-based Dean Foods, with fourth-quarter net income falling 55%. In the period ending 31 December 2007, net income plunged to $32.6 million (€22.1m) compared to $73 million (€49.5m) in the same quarter a year ago. The drop came despite a 25% sales gain in the fourth quarter.
