Recent years have seen the emergence of the supply chain management (SCM) paradigm, in which a multinational company pursues a global sourcing strategy and delivers its product through an integrated supply and distribution network. The success of this supply chain is thus highly dependent on the extent to which firms are able to understand and integrate their global supply base and logistics efforts (Bowersox, Closs, & Stank, 2000; Kauffman, 2002; Monczka, Trent, & Handfield, 2002; Tan, Lyman, & Wisner, 2002). Academic research inevitably notes that successful and timely delivery is the key to global supply management (Masella & Rangone, 2000; Pagell & Krause, 2002; Petersen, Frayer, & Scannell, 2000; Tan et al., 2002; Vonderembse & Tracey, 1999).
