摘要

Indian hostility and belligerency have brought its relations with Pakistan to its lowest ebb for many years. The recent killing of Kashmiri youth Burhan Wani, sparked the worst violence in Kashmir in six years. Blaming the protests on Pakistan. Indian troops, mostly Hindu soldiers from Mizoram, Nagaland and other eastern states, killed more than 100 civilians in just over a month. With guns firing pellets hundreds were blinded, the pellets were later replaced by "chilli powder" cartridges. The India govt tried to divert both international and domestic opinion by staging on Sept 29 the Uri attack by four gunmen. A media-induced frenzy demanded the "avenging" of the Uri attack by a "surgical strike".
