摘要

It is a general observation that a lamp which is about to be extinguished flutters quite a bit. Pakistan's praetorianism, just about to die, did maximum damage to the judiciary, no less than a carnage when President Musharraf, hopefully the last military ruler, sacked about sixty judges including the Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry and the second one in the seniority list - Rana Bhagwan Das - and the cream of the judges of the Apex Court, besides a sizeable number of the High Courts, as they refused to take oath under the so called Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO), which is verbal proclamation that none dare defy, what 'uniformed' ruler 'desires' of judiciary or any institution run by civilians, as if they are children of a lesser god, and hence must obey as it is imperative under the 'unity-of- command'.
