摘要

Kinza, a schoolteacher in a primary school in Balakot, was teaching her class when on 8th October at around 8.52 the earthquake jolted the ground under her feet. An unprecedented 7.5 Richter scale earthquake brought the roof of the school down. Sensing the danger Kinza took as many kids as she could under herself to protect them. Four days after the quake a team rescued one of those children alive. All other children under Kinza's arms, in her class and in that entire school died under the collapsed building. Kinza gave her life to protect her students. Thousands of children in approximately 5000 schools in Balakot and Muzaffarabad areas were killed within few minutes of this earthquake. Even if 30 students per school are presumed dead, the number comes to 1,20,000. According to UN officials this quake has killed more people than the Tsunami that killed around 2,00,000 people in 8 countries. They term the relief operation in Pakistan as the biggest nightmare in the history of UN. This massive jolt has resurfaced many old questions in this new and painful context.
