As the coalition government prepares to undertake the long anticipated Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR), the implications for discrete elements of the UK's defence capability come into sharp focus. The effects on the logistic and armoured vehicle fleets are likely to be particularly keenly awaited.rnThe first effect of any defence review will be to freeze all new spending, although this aim will be clouded, as the last SDR was not, by the UK's heavy engagement in an overseas conflict. For both operational and political reasons, this limits any action that can be taken for much of that element of the army's inventory which is committed to Afghanistan, probably including ongoing Urgent Operational Requirements (UORs).
