We started by saying that the JSC was something of a 'best in class' business management model. I hope readers can now understand why this is so. Apart from responding to massive change, the DG's team has improved processes, reduced staff numbers, added coherence to a host of activities previously undertaken by the FLCs, and provided commanders with substantially more effective logistics support. It is, therefore, good to hear him say: "The thing which gives me most pride is that the JSC has become something of a factory organisation. We churn out improvements almost on a daily basis, often without making a fuss, just quietly getting on with it."
