The ability of navies to demonstrate, through independent verification, that their safety management is at an appropriate level, has taken a huge step forward with the submission of ANEP 77, the Naval Ship Code (NSC), to the Maritime Capability Group 6 (MCG/6) for their approval. Already a number of navies who have been involved in its gestation are publicly committed to applying various sections for their own vessels.rnThis code, developed by nine navies and eight classification societies, demonstrates both the desire of navies to be able to show effective self regulation of safety, and the willingness of both navies and class societies to work together in developing safety.
