How can the US concept of Network Centric Warfare, and the UK and Nato equivalents of Network Enabled Capability (NEC) function effectively when continuously changing new and legacy components to be connected within the battlespace have not been designed to work together? Merely to await the 'Nirvana' of new systems designed to be interoperable at all levels is neither practical nor operationally effective. But with proper planning, much is achievable using available, proven, interoperability gateway approaches.
