The election of Joe Biden to the US Presidency will strain and limit the traditional US "special relationship" with the United Kingdom, but will provide impetus for the creation of CANZUK as a strategic bloc linking the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.Even before assuming office in the US on January 20, 2021, President-elect Joe Biden had indicated he would follow the former Obama Government lead and penalize the United Kingdom for its decision to leave the European Union (EU). Even though the UK's Brexit agreement with the EU actually delivered what Biden "demanded" of the UK that it not jeopardize the 1998 "Good Friday Agreement" which opened trade and borders between Northern Ireland (part of the UK) and the Republic of Ireland - Biden seems committed to continue US interference in UK affairs by supporting the separatist agenda of the Scottish Nationalist Party (SNP) to seek independence from the UK.
