Bisphenol-A (BPA) is one of the derivatives of phenol. Wastewater containing BPA can be a source of contamination in aquatic environments and as an endocrine disrupting chemical can cause serious hazard for human and animals. The aim of this study is to examine and compare the efficiency of ultrasonic waves (US) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) processes on BPA toxicity before and after the single (US) and combined processes (US/H2O2) using bioassay of Daphnia magna (D. magna). Experiments were performed at initial concentrations of 2, 5, 20 and 50 mg/L of BPA, frequency of 35 and 130 kHz, acoustic powers of 300 W and 500 W and times of 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 and 120 min. According to the probit method, LC50 of BPA was determined in 24, 48, 72 and 96 h. Comparison of bioassay results showed that the toxicity of the initial solution was reduced after processed with US and US/H2O2.
