Young plants of Caryopteris x clandonensis 'Grand Bleu' were treated three times on 6 June, 29 June, 16 July 2010, with growth retardants Alar 85 SP in 0.2 % and 0.4 %; Bumper 25 EC in 0.05 % and 0.1 %; Cultar 1 % and 2 %; Cycocel 0.15 % and 0.3 %; Mirage 45 EC 0,1% and 0.2 %; and the untreated Control. The treatments were given as foliar sprays. The most effective growth retardant was Cultar used in 2 % or 1 % concentration, followed by Alar, Cycocel, Bumper, Mirage and at least the Control young plants. The order of the growth retardants by effect was Cultar, Alar, Cycocel, Bumper, Mirage and Control. The shortest plants treated with Cultar had 21 cm long shoots, lateral shoots 0.3 cm, the blossombuds developed after 11 nodes, and the average internodes length was 1 cm long. The longest plants Control had 53.5 cm long shoots, lateral shoots 19 cm long, the blossombuds developed after 11 nodes, and the average internodes length was 3.5 cm long.
