Anosteosarcomadevelopedinthetarsaljointregioninvolvingthedistaltibiaofadomesticrabbit(Oryctolaguscuniculus).Micrometastaseswerepresentinthelungs.Histologicallythetumorwascomposedofovoidtoshort-spindlecellswithabundantgiantcells,producingirregularislandsofosteoids.Thetumorcellswereimmunopositivewithantiosteocalcinmonoclonalantibody,consistentwiththeirderivationfromosteoblasts.Accordingtoreviewof10publishedcases,productiveosteoblasicosteosarcomaisthemostcommonbonetumorinrabbits,withhalfofallcasesdevelopingintheskullorfacialbones.
