Carbon capture and flow in a silvopastoral system of the Colombian Andean zone

The objective was develop to a protocol to measure of the capture and the monitoring of carbon like an environmental service, in silvopastoral of Acacia decurrens + Pennisetum clandestinum located in the andes of Colombia (2538 msnm), in two densities of sowing of trees: high (1111 trees/ha), and low (407 trees/ ha). In addition, the carbon flow between animals in pasturing and the ground was evaluated through lees produced on hoste in cowsafter the consumption of the biomass system. After six years of established the SSP, the amount of existing carbon in the trees, the pastures and soil promoted to 260 (HD) and 251 (LD) tC/ha respectively. In the treatment of low density was reached 154tC/ha including pastures and the soils. The carbon flow through lees of the animals was 0,50, 0,47 and 0,48 tC/cow/ha/year in HD, LD and without trees respectively. In average for two years, the annual average increases of carbon in the aerial part of the trees are of 9,9 and 11,2 tC/ha for HD and LD respectively.
