WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, NM - While the Army prepares for delivery later this year of the first battery of the Israeli-made Iron Dome air defense system, the service is still considering whether it will be able to integrate the system with its Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System. Brig. Gen. Brian Gibson, director of the Air and Missile Defense Cross-Functional Team, said yesterday the service is still on schedule to receive the first Iron Dome battery by the end of December and the second by the end of February. The Army's Iron Dome team is now quarantining in Israel so they can prepare the system. If all goes well, the Army will attempt to achieve operational capability by the end of September 2021 for the first battery and the end of December 2021 for the second, Gibson said.
