The National Library of Scotland announced in June that Dr John Scally had been appointed as its new Chief Executive and National Librarian. He took over from Martyn Wade, who retired at the end of March. John took up his new post in September. Since 2012, John had been Director of Library and University Collections at the University of Edinburgh, where he had been Director of University Collections and Deputy Director of Library, Museums and Galleries for the previous ten years.
