Studies on Change of Total Lipid in Gonad, Muscle and Liver Pampus chinensis (Euphrasen) from within and outside PFZ Zones off Ratnagiri Coast, Maharashtra State, India
Accumulation of lipid in Chinese pomfret ovary from within and outside Potential Fishing Zone (PFZ) validation experiment during late post-spawning up to last early pre spawning period may be correlated with the maturation of ova in ovary during study. On the contrary an increased level in total lipid in testis during late post spawning and early pre-spawning period suggesting the active metabolites processes and mobilization of essential metabolites towards gonads. The total lipid also increases for within than outside PFZ zone in the gonads of these species during season. The present intricate and importantinvestigation was undertaken with a purpose to investigate variations inlipid level of Chinese pomfret in the ovaries and testis tissue. The maturation and the enrichment of gonads in lipid coincided with a decline of the lipid content in muscles and liver. In the present study the more intense reduction in the lipid content was estimated in the liver and muscle than gonads of males as compared to female’s pomfret, gonads indicate that the reproductive cost is higher in females than in males in the chinese pomfret fishes collected from within and outside PFZ validation experiment upon hiring fishing boats following Potential Fishing Zone Advisory sent from INCOIS conducted during 2008-2011 in late post spawning and early pre spawning period .
