From agricultural era to industrial era information was the key concept for the growth of mankind at the back end. Present age itself is the information era which is information communication and technology based. It demands right information at the right time in the right format. Libraries being an information centers are expected to play a predominant role. India as a developing country has witnessed for the changes adopted by Indian libraries in collection development or acquisition of knowledge. The present study is an attempt to describe the initiatives or projects undertaken in support of making and developing the digital libraries in India.
