摘要

This document is a review and theoretical reflection on the management of projects in small andmedium enterprises, determining its ontological, gnoseological and axiological perspective, whosemain objective is to investigate its theoretical base. Likewise, it offers conceptual elementsconcerning its definition, importance, functions and origin, thus allowing to obtain a deep knowledgeabout this technique in SMEs. The methodology consists of the documentary review of secondarysources, consulting related texts, and refereed articles from specialized journals. Theoretically, itwas based on the approaches of authors such as: Kwak (2005), MacLachlan (1996), PMBOK(2008), Páez (2004), Tejada (2003), Domenico (2010), and others. The conclusions showshortcomings in the field of SMEs, due to the lack of resources dedicated to project management, alack of knowledge about this discipline, the appointment of project managers with a lack ofacademic and practical training, in an environment of strong uncertainty.
