摘要

The name Machiavelli conjures ideas of a cunning individual using immoral and duplicitous methods to seize political power. This imagery suggests that Machiavelli’s book The Prince is only applicable to violent dictatorships and has no place in modern democratic politics. However, beyond the surface imagery is a treatise on human interaction. The Prince’s examination of political leadership, policymaking, and people’s reaction to change make this book a timeless piece that is relevant for leaders even in a democracy.
