Abstract:Objective To investigate the nursing management on patients with complex high anal fistula undergoing endoscopic vacuum sealing drainage (VSD). Methods A total of 58 patients with complex high anal fistula were treated with endoscopic VSD. Nursing measures included preparation of patients and surgical equipments before operation, as well as surgical position management and operation coordination during operation. Results The duration of operation ranged from 35 minutes to 65 minutes and length of stay ranged from 13 days to 35 days. Three patients were observed with redness and rise in temperature 5 to 10 days after operation. All patients were cured with normal anal morphology and function. Conclusion Improved preoperative preparation, proper position management, cooperation in endoscopic surgery and communication between surgeon and nurses are key points in endoscopic VSD for patients with complex high anal fistula.
