Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of home care on quality of life and complications in stroke patients with indwelling stomach tube. Methods 〓Totally 80 stroke patients enrolled from July, 2015 to June, 2016 were selected as control group. Another 80 stroke patients with indwelling stomach tube were selected as observation group from July, 2016 to June, 2017. Both two groups received routine care during treatment, and the home care intervention was carried out in the observation group after discharge. The incidence of complications, daily living ability and quality of life were evaluated. Results 〓The incidence of oral disorders, aspiration, gastric retention, gastric obstruction, gastrointestinal bleeding, diarrhea and constipation were lower in the observation group than those in the control group(P0.05). The score of Barthel index in the observation group was higher than that of the controls after intervention(P0.01). Patients in the observation group achiever a higher improvement in each dimension of Stroke Specific Quality of Life Scale(SS-QOL)compared with those in the control group after intervention(P0.05). Conclusion 〓Home care intervention is potentially effective to reduce the risk of complications in stroke patients with indwelling stomach tube. It is also effective to improve the activity of daily living and quality of life.
