Abstract:Objective To observed the clinical effect of fomentation with five-seed powder in treatment of abdominal distension and constipation after thoracolumbar compression fractures. Methods A total of 120 patients with abdominal distension and constipation after thoracolumbar compression fractures were divided into the study group(n=62)and the control group(n=58). Both two groups received routine nursing care. Patients in the control group were given insertion and Phenolphthalein tablets oral intake, and patients in the study group were treated with fomentation with five-seed powder. The clinical effect of intervention on relieving abdominal distension and constipation was evaluated and compared between two groups. Results The overall effective rate was 96.8%(60/62)in the study group and was 70.7%(41/58)in the control group, with a significant difference(P0.01). Conclusion It is effective to use fomentation therapy with five-seed powder in treatment of abdominal distension and constipation after thoracolumbar compression fractures.
