Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) is an uncommon thyroid tumor which is derived from the parafollicular or C?cells of the thyroid gland and is associated with specific supportive diagnostic markers. Despite this, its cytological diagnosis is often difficult owing to varied morphological patterns. We report two cases of MTC, the diagnosis of which was established on fine?needle aspiration cytology followed by surgical resection and confirmation by histopathology.
