Weobtainedprofilesofthegreen(FeXIV5303a€‰?…)andred(FeX6374a€‰?…)emissionlinessimultaneouslyon1998July18a€“19forabout4hourswithacadenceof10minutes,coveringanareaofabout$$200'' imes500''$$inthesolarcorona.Thelinewidth(FWHM),intensity,andDopplershiftforbothlineswerecomputedusingGaussianfitstotheobservedlineprofiles.Wethenstudiedanysystematicdifferencesintheseparametersbetweenclosedandopenfieldstructures,andtheirtimevariations.ThederivedlinewidthsindicatethattheFWHMoftheredlineincreaseswithheightabovethelimbatarateof$$0.5hbox{--}2.6,mathrm{m}$$a€‰?…$$,mathrm{arcsec}^{-1}$$andthegreen-linewidthdecreaseswithheightatarateof$$1.2hbox{--}3.4,mathrm{m}$$a€‰?…$$,mathrm{arcsec}^{-1}$$.Thedifferenceinthetime-averagedvaluesofthewidthsofthegreenlineinopenandclosedcoronalstructuresatagivenheightabovethelimbissmall,whereasthewidthoftheredlineinopenstructuresissubstantiallylargerthanthatintheclosedloop-likecoronalstructures.
