摘要

Software Engineering is the discipline that applies principles of engineering to the development of quality software in a timely and cost-effective manner. In most IT curricula, it is being taught as one course, and poses many challenges. One approach to learning it is to use Project-based Learning which provides students with authentic learning activities. Students are tasked to develop software that address problems in real world, and they reflect on what they have learned and how they can improve. To support them in the development of the software, software tools are needed. In this paper, the open source software development tools are discussed to show how they are used to support Project-based Learning in Software Engineering.
