QSAR study of 2,4-dioxothiazolidine antidiabetic compounds

A series of 2,4-thiazolidinedione derivatives were synthesized and studied for antihyperglycemic activity with QSAR study. 3-(2,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)-2-{4-[4-(2,4-dioxothiazolidin-5-ylmethyl)phenoxy]-phenyl}- acrylic acid methyl ester (Thz7) was found the most active compound in this series. Antihyperglycemic activity of these synthesized derivatives was described by 5 models in which the bi-parametric model-3 containing c3 and log P was found to be the best model. Some parameters proves the effectiveness of QSAR model-3, like correlation coefficient (0.947), observed square correlation coefficient (0.896), predicted square correlation coefficient (0.872) and standard error (0.079) was lowest for this model.
