Chemokinereceptorsregulatecellmigrationandhoming.Theybelongtotherhodopsin‐likefamilyofGPCRs.Theirancestorgenesemergedintheearlystagesofvertebrateevolution.Sincethen,thefamilyhasbeengreatlyexpandedthroughwholeandsegmentalgenomeduplicationevents.Duringevolution,manyaminoacidchangeshavebeenintroducedinindividualchemokinereceptors,butcertainmotifsandresiduesarehighlyconserved.Previously,weproposedanomenclaturesystemofthevertebratechemokinereceptorsbasedontheirevolutionaryhistoryandphylogeneticanalyses.Withtheuseofthisclassificationsystem,wearenowabletoconfidentlyassignthespeciesorthologsofvertebratechemokinereceptors.Here,wesystematicallyanalyzeconservedmotifsandresiduesofeachgroupoforthologouschemokinereceptorsthatmayplayimportantrolesintheirsignalingandbiologicfunctions.Ourpresentanalysismayprovideusefulinformationonhowindividualchemokinereceptorsareactivateduponligandbinding...
