BackgroundandObjective:Staphylococcusaureusisoneofthemostimportanthumanpathogenicbacteria,whichduetoitsbecomingincreasinglyresistanttovariousantibioticsincludingpenicillin,oxacillin,vancomycin,macrolides,linezolidsrequiredparticularattention.TheaimofthisstudywastoevaluatethepatternrateofresistanceofisolatescollectedfromclinicalsamplesamonghospitalizedpatientsinGolestanandImamKhomeinihospitalsinAhwaz,Iran.SubjectsandMethods:Inthepresentstudy,atotalof325suspectedisolatesofStaphylococcusaureuscollectedfromclinicalsamples,200isolateswereidentifiedasStaphylococcusaureus,afterperformanceofstandarddiagnostictestsincludingmannitolsaltagar,coagulase,DNaseagarandcatalase.TheidentifiedisolateswerestudiedaccordingtoCLSIStandardsbydiscfusionmethodusingantibiogramdiscscontainingoxacillin,vancomycin,erythromycin,azithromycinorlinezolid.Results:Allisolatesweresensitivetolinezolidandvancomycin.Resistanceagainstmeticillin,azithromycinanderythromycinwas50,61.5and59%,respectively.Inaddition,25%ofislotaesofStaphylococcusaureuswereconcurrentlyresistanttometicillin,azithromycinanderythromycin.Conclusion:Resistancetothemethicillinrelativetothepreviousyearshasincreasednoticeable,buttherewasnoresistancetovancomycinandlinezolid.
