We report a case of ocular vaccinia infection in anunvaccinated laboratory worker. The patient was infectedby a unique strain used in an experiment performed partlyoutside a biosafety cabinet. Vaccination should continue tobe recommended, but laboratories with unvaccinatedworkers should also implement more stringent biosafetypractices
