To the Editor: Schineria larvaehas been isolated from maggots of thefly Wohlfahrtia magnifica (1), whichcause myiasis in animals and peoplein Eurasia and northern Africa. Inindustrialized nontropical countries, arange of species in the order Dipteracause facultative myiasis in patientswith neglected wounds (2). Since therecent description of S. larvae,Schineria sp. isolates and clones havebeen detected in diverse environmen-tal and animal sources, but in all casesa relation with flies could be estab-lished. We describe a case of bac-teremia due to Schineria sp. in ahuman patient with myiasis
