To the Editor: Helicobacterpylori has been classified as a carcino-genic pathogen. Its prevalence is highin developing countries. Apart fromthe known gastrointestinal pathologicchanges caused by this organism, reports on the association between H.pylori infection and extragastro-intestinal diseases have been increas-ing. Although impaired host immuni-ty should be associated with a highprevalence of this infection, a defini-tive relationship has not been estab-lished. We conducted a cross-section-al study to determine the prevalenceof H. pylori infection in immunocom-promised Thai children. The study was reviewed andapproved by the research ethic com-mittee of Chiang Mai University. From 2003 to 2004, a total of 60 chil-dren 90%) (1).
