摘要

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was first reported in December 2019 and has since spread globally, currently affecting more than 180 countries, infected more than 3 million individuals, and caused almost 300 000 deaths. Malaysia, a multi-cultural country with a population of ap- proximately 30 million, is among the most affected countries in Southeast Asia. As of 26 May 2020, pub- licly available information indicated that the local COVID-19 mortality rate stood at 1.5% with 115 re- ported deaths among 7604 infected persons. Table 1 summarizes publicly accessible data from the Department of Statistics, Malaysia regarding the number of COVID-19 deaths in Malaysia; higher figures tend to be seen in states that have a larger elderly population.
