In the first 20 years of the 21st century, energy saving, environmental protection and new energy are more and more closely linked with the automobile. The research and development of Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) have become the top priority of the major car companies. HEVs generally have at least two kinds of on-board energy. Through the complementation of the two energy sources, the performance of the vehicle system can be improved and the pollution can be reduced. To develop a mature and practical energy management strategy is an urgent problem. This paper uses the parameter identification method to identify ‘black box’ HEVs model and proposes a two-layer Model Predictive Control (MPC) based energy-management method to optimise and control the running process of HEVs. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified byBenchmark Problem E-COSM2021Comapred with a simple control strategy, the SOC consumption of the proposed method has a 5% drop.
