摘要

Creativity and innovation are key constructs in modern manufacturing. Very few firms can remain competitive without these attributes. The exception may be a very small number of firms who conform to the innovation resistance profile. Some firms will always be more innovative, and therefore more competitive than others. However emerging empirical studies are beginning to explore the institutional factors facilitating innovation. Using management agendas to develop a creative environment seems to support product innovation but has little effect on process innovation. However, using motivational strategies seems to enable innovation in both areas.
