One of the first things a visitor to the BBC's swanky new offices in Salford, Lancashire, notices are the rather unusual double bench seats dotted along the corridors. There's a circular roof which matches the base, making them resemble huge hamster wheels which you sit inside. Apparently, they are "thought wheels". There are also "collaboration pods" -cheaper than having individual offices in which to collaborate and, wait for it, they are for "fostering the interplay of ideas across departmental boundaries."
