The hotly contested bid to dredge the Panama Canal's Atlantic entrance has been won by Belgium's Jan De Nul JDN submitted the low bid of $89.6M - a world apart from Great Lakes Dredge & Dock's high bid of $195.9M. The contract will involve dredging approximately 15M m~3 of material, in addition to 800,000m~3 of dry excavation and deepening the Atlantic entrance to 15.5m.
