Intensification of the solar cycle activity provokes long-term anomalies of the surface air pressure in high and middle latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere in the winter period. The most important peculiarity of sun-induced fluctuations is the opposite-sign variation in pressure anomalies in regions tending to the Icelandic Low and Aleutian Low. Two regimes of variations are observed in high latitudes during solar cycles 16-21: (1) an increase in the pressure at the boundary with the Atlantic Ocean and a decrease in the pressure at the boundary with the Pacific Ocean, (2) a decrease in the pressure at the boundary with the Atlantic Ocean and an increase in the pressure at the boundary with the Pacific Ocean. Spatiotemporal peculiarities of natural variations are adapted to a large-scale inhomogeneous distribution of land and ocean in the middle and high latitudes. Therefore, the geographic landscapes and hydrometeorological conditions of the Arctic region can be regarded as important indicators of solar-terrestrial relationships.
