Like the peaks of the Jura that surround its home in the Vallee de Joux, the manufacture of Jaeger-LeCoultre stands high in the field of Swiss watchmaking, as it has done since the early nineteenth century. Antoine LeCoultre, founder of the brand now known as Jaeger-LeCoultre, is one of the heroic figures of Switzerland's watchmaking culture. Known for the excellence of his gearwheels, in 1833 LeCoultre set up a small watchmaking workshop in Le Sentier, where Jaeger-LeCoultre remains to the present day.
