Hewlett-Packard decided to hive off its PC-and-printer business and create a new company, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, to focus on servers, cloud computing and big data. It will be run by Meg Whitman, HP's boss. When she became chief executive three years ago Ms Whitman jettisoned the idea of spinning off the pc business. But with the rise of tablets HP's computer sales have suffered, falling 7% last year, according to Gartner, a consulting firm.

While quite a number of English-Japanese dictionaries of business and legal terms have been publishedin Japan, there seem to be very few Japanese-English dictionaries on the market which give clear explanations of thesubtle differences in meaning between the various English equivalents of terms in such specialized fields.
